Most of the money which buys Cygnet's boats and other equipment comes from donations and fundraising. This is over and above the basic club subscription. About 40% of our equipment funds are raised by the Cygnet 300 Club.
What is the 300 Club? It's a lottery club. You buy tickets, which then take part in draws for cash prizes. Just under half of the sales proceeds are paid out in prizes (a smidgen better percentage than the National Lottery), and Cygnet RC trousers the rest.
Despite not fielding a crew for HRR in 2012 some lucky Cygnets can still consider themselves 'winners' at this years regatta in winning a cash prize in our 2nd 300 Club draw of the year. The lucky ones are below and there was good representation for hand-on the balls in the Slys' garden as well as a (familiarly) enjoyable day all round.
£25 480 A Cox
£40 377 Bart de Groot
£60 411 Ronnie Lambe
£100 471 Paul Rawkins
£25 Alan Cox
£40 David Jones
£60 Pat O'Connor
£100 Nicola Callaway
The final draws for the season will take place at the AGM on 27 Feb.
