Naming the Neil Pickford - 26th May

A great number of members showed up for the boat naming on Wednesday evening. Chairman Wylie made short speech highlighting Neil's career at Cygnet from arriving in March 2002 with Davo as his sidekick; being the bar steward; Club Captain; Water Safety Adviser; Boathouse Captain; boat fixer etc.

After Neil had pulled the flag off the bows of the boat and poured the obligatory Champers over the name he thanked the Chairman and the Committee by saying that he was honoured indeed, although there were far more deserving club members than him.

The Cygnet IM2 4- consisting of Stuart Gibbons, bow, Neil Pickford, Nick Wyatt and Bart de Groot, stroke, coxed by Marjorie Israel then carried the boat to the water and rowed past the club at a snappy 37 strokes per minute.

Once everyone was back onshore the throng adjourned to the bar, where beer was drunk, birthday cake and snacks were eaten, and fun was had by all in time-honoured Cygnet style.
