Cygnet Rowing Club
Safety

Safety is an issue involving all of us. Safety consciousness will help to prevent accidents, injuries and damage. Any disregard for the safety of others is inexcusable and a breach of the legal "duty of care" each of us owes to all others affected by our actions or omissions. There are therefore clear moral, legal, and financial obligations, which make due regard to safety essential.

TRRC Online Reporting System for reporting (1) bad navigation, (2) near misses, (3) ARA-reportable incidents, (4) PLA-reportable incidents.

We take safety very seriously at Cygnet as outlined in the documents below.

  • Before You Lock Up: to ensure that everyone is back from their outings, and what actions to take if they are not.
  • Code of Conduct: the rules of rowing at Cygnet.
  • Risk Assessment: what to consider when doing a personal risk assessment before going out on the water.
  • Rowing in the Dark: our policy.
  • Steering & Navigation: booklet providing Cygnet-specific details on navigating on the Tideway.
  • Use of Club Equipment: outlining which boats can be taken out only with the Captain's permission.
