CXXV

1st January 2015

Cygnet Rowing club was founded on 12th February 1890 at the Duke's Head in Putney. 2015 will therefore be our 125th continuous year as an active rowing club on the Thames Tideway. Naturally, we're planning a few celebrations to mark the occasion.

Essentially we are going to 'boost' some of our regular events throughout the year with the addition of one formal event at The House of Lords, which has been especially arranged as a formal celebration of the club's foundation 125 years ago.

Members and guests are very welcome to come to one, some or all of these events and more details will be posted here as they become available. In the meantime get these pencilled into your diaries...

• 12th February - informal drinks in the Duke's Head, Putney, the place where it all began.
• 3rd July - Henley Friday at Old Blades (Possibly including a rower during the tea break)
• 17th July - The House of Lords Reception
• 24th October - The Henley Lunch, Leander Club

The club has also published an updated club history book and there will some specially commissioned 'merchandise' to mark the occasion.

And as if we needed anymore reason to celebrate, 2015 also marks the 50th Anniversary or our relationship with RG Benrath
