Rowing lockdown: Monday updates

11th May 2020

09.00
Dear all, I hope this email finds you and your family all well, and free from nasty viruses.

Following yesterday's update by the Prime Minister, the committee are keeping an eagle eye on the recommendations due soon from both British Rowing/TRRC and the PLA/EA. For now, none of the advice has been changed, although all the above organisations have meetings scheduled to discuss the new situation. At the moment, the situation is still as it has been over the past seven weeks: NO ROWING or SCULLING by ANYONE!!

Please be patient, and bear with us. We need to be sure that it's safe for you to be on the water, and that we can provide the right hygiene and social distancing measures in the boathouse.

As you can imagine, your management committee members are just as keen to be able to get on the water as you are, but we need to do this safely, to avoid spreading the COVID-19 virus. For now, Stay Safe and Off the Water.

Hon Secretary, Cygnet RC

All

I can understand everyone's frustration with the current situation and the apparent lack of activity from your committee. Let me assure you that there has been a considerable amount of work going on behind the scenes particularly from your Captain and Secretary. It has been particularly difficult to access what measures we will undertake to elevate the situation until we have clear guidance from our governing body on the way forward.

However, your committee will be [virtually] meeting tomorrow (Tuesday) to discuss possible scenarios for a measured return to rowing. As soon as we have a positive directive from British Rowing we shall put these plans into place. In the meantime I value your continued patience during this difficult time.
Stay safe

Nick

Chairman, Cygnet RC
