Road access to the Boathouse

21st May 2020

You may be aware that the traffic team is undertaking a number of emergency transport measures as part of the Council's response to the Covid-19 crisis, more information on which can be found via the link below. The measures being undertaken are to improve public safety on our road network, prioritise sustainable and active travel and ensure that our residents can maintain social distancing while travelling around the borough.

As part of this programme of work, the Council is closing the road though Dukes Meadows to traffic, at the point it passes under the railway bridge, where Dan Mason Drive meets The Promenade. This is to prioritise the safety of pedestrians and cyclists at a location where the road is narrow and visibility is poor, but also to ensure that there is enough space for those users to adhere to social distancing guidelines.

The closure is due to be installed this Friday, 22nd May in advance to the bank holiday week end. It will be in place for a minimum of 6 months, after which point the closure will be reviewed to determine if it should remain. The road will be closed using planters and waterfilled barriers with signing at multiple locations in advance to warn road users of the closure. Traffic access to the Dukes Meadows during the closure will therefore be required from Dan Mason Drive to the west of the railway line, or Riverside Drive / The Promenade to the east.

Please communicate to your users and members. We welcome feedback during this initial trial period, please send any correspondence to traffic@hounslow.gov.uk

You might have also noticed that traffic improvements continue at Dukes Meadows. Here is the link with the details. [Be aware that this appears to include double yellow lines around the boathouse so check before you park - Ed.]
