Cygnet Weekly News

5th April 2016

A new experience of rowing in a 4 for some of our novices at the weekend and in pleasant weather too. All good experience being in a more sensitive boat and getting ready for the upcoming regattas.

This Week

Tuesday Erg: 30 min pyramid (3 x 4 mins @20, 3@22, 2@24, 1@26)

Thursday Squad Erg 7 pm 8 x 500 m rates 24, 26, 28, 30, 32, 30, 28, 28, 2mins rest

Squad meeting and food after the erg. Time to talk about the regatta season and which regattas to prioritise and plan the training regime. If you can't make it please let me know what your intentions are for racing over the summer.

Weekend:

Saturday and Sunday outings - please update the spreadsheet, we are still thin on the ground for outings, you should all be fully recovered from Head of the River by now. I'd like to carry on rowing in 4s so it would be good to have at least 2 fours out both days.

Sculling Camp 15-17th April

A fantastic response from Barnes Bridge so far, but we could do with a few more Cygnets especially those who have not sculled before. Sculling Camp is the best place to take your first strokes in a single and master the basic skills. We will organise sculling pods on the Tideway (when the conditions are right) to build the skills but you need to get the basics in safe surroundings first. It's a great social event and the Cygnet bungalow is a treasure. What not to like!!!

Have a good week

See you Thursday
