And the winner is...
28th September 2023
...Rowing, obviously!
In fact, there were three winners at this year's End of Season Dinner, which took place at The Crossing in Barnes on Friday 22nd. A good turnout of blazers, were well wined and dined before the winners of our annual awards were announced, as follows:
Clara Fennessy • G.P. Jefferies Cup
Dominic Marshall • Wally Wheldal Cup
Octavian Puzderca • Tim Senior Cup, for Novice of the year
This last award is a new one for this season and was presented in memory of former Cygnet and Boat Race Company Chairman Tim Senior who sadly passed away while racing a Head in February. His parents were guests of honour at this year's dinner and on hand to make the inaugural presentation of the cup they had kindly donated. This from Edward Senior, Tim's father:
"On behalf of my family I would like to thank you and the club for the hospitality and welcome we experienced on Friday. It was good to meet and talk to those who knew Tim, and to present the cup to a representative of the new generation of rowers. Good luck for next season and the future. Eddie Senior.
Many thanks also to the vice captain and bar steward, Mustafa for all his efforts in organising this year's excellent End of Season Dinner.
September is always a busy month for social events, sandwiched as it is between the end of regatta season and the start of the Head season and at the beginning of the month we held our traditional Club Day in conjunction with BBLRC. A bit of mixed crew tête-à-tête and a boat naming was followed by a few beers, a BBQ and some talk of what might have beens and glories to come.
