2024 Subs
7th January 2024
A quick reminder that subs are now due for 2024. The club account is, as ever, 09-01-55/71834000.
As the CSSC (Civil Service Sports Council, aka our immediate landlords) are urgently trying to find good reasons to make the members of both clubs in the boathouse responsible for incurring the costs of the building in full, the committee considers it imperative that all Cygnet members are also members of the CSSC, at least in the short term. So a request to the last few holdouts to join up - please find a friend in the squad who is already a member of CSSC - they will have to go here: https://www.cssc.co.uk/account/referrals and create a personalised invitation (limit - 6 links per existing member) that can then be used for sign-up. You also get a host of other benefits with CSSC, such as free entry to Kew Gardens, discounted Sainsburys vouchers, etc.
All current and new CSSC members should confirm their CSSC number to me to continue receiving the discounted subs rate.
Those currently on direct debits should have been rolled over for the new year earlier this afternoon - if anyone wants to change payment frequency please let me know. For members wishing to join the direct debit scheme, the sign-up link is here. Please enter details and then contact me to confirm rates and frequency of payment. The club now offers payment by credit card, details here.

And finally, please ensure you have current membership with British Rowing. This ensures you are properly insured with public liability and personal accident coverage for your sporting endeavours.

3rd December 2023
Dear BBL and Cygnet folk,
I am writing to you to announce our attempt to re-launch our cross-club Thursday Supper Club. For old timers, hopefully this is welcome news, and for a good number of you who have joined since then, it is thankfully a fairly simple plan to explain...
Every week on Thursday evening, a volunteer chef offers to cook up a dinner of solid rowing fare for any that would like to stay on after their training (or to come down especially, people not training that day are still very welcome!), and we will send an email each week, listing who is cooking and providing a link to sign up.
The chef sets their deadline for when they need to know how many are coming and the price per head, but we ask that chefs plan a meal that will cost between £3 and no more than £6 per head, we are looking for good training food and nothing too extravagant:) The chef will likely let you know the final price on the night, and sort out how best they want you to pay (I suspect gone are the days when it was just a simple cash tray!).
You can list any dietary requirements when you sign up, and our chef will do their very best to cater accordingly, but be aware it may not be possible every week and may depend a little on the volunteer's skill set! (They will let you know if they don't think they can manage that week).
And with no further ado, our first dinner is this Thursday 7th Dec, with the lovely Anna B stepping up as chef - please add your name here if you would like to join and I hope to see you there: https://xoyondo.com/op/7fvat22a660cu0x
Please do let me know if you would be up for volunteering as a chef in the future.. (and feel free to email/message if you have any issues)
Thank you!Hannah

4 - Calling all potential moustache growers for a great fundraising event - Movember. This November Cygnet members and friends everywhere are invited to grow a mo, in the name of men’s health. It’s simple: shave clean on 31st of October, and watch your moustache flourish throughout the month.
We’ll be raising money for the biggest global men’s health charity, Movember, who fund research and projects for testicular cancer, prostate cancer and mental health and suicide prevention.
Simply set yourself up a fundraising page and join the cygnet and bbl fundraising team here: https://uk.movember.com/team/2444365?utm_source=qrcode&utm_medium=mo_app&utm_campaign=movember&utm_content=app_share_teamspace_qr

We’ll plan our outings in the usual way, but there will be a joint club brunch on offer for a small contribution afterwards. Fill out this form to let them know you’ll be there https://forms.gle/XrE4Q15YpLtWwp1H7.
