Cygnet RC COVID-19 members update
13th May 2020
Dear all,
Last night, your committee discussed the next phase in the lockdown, following the plans from HM Government outlined earlier this week. We are working on a risk assessment ready for the opening of the boathouse, but that is, as we found out about an hour before the meeting, for the next step. In short, the reality is as follows:
- British Rowing guidance: private single owners ONLY to boat from public slipways or with permission from private slipways.
- All boathouses have to stay closed until 4th July 2020 at the earliest. Single scullers to adhere to the 2m distancing at all times, unless they share a household
- PLA restriction on use of the river for recreational use has so far not been lifted intend to publish a decision by the end of the week.
For now, therefore, nobody is allowed to go out on the river, until the PLA have published their decision. This will also give the Boathouse Executive time to discuss how we can facilitate access to to the private sculls, so that when the time comes, they can be used.
I am sorry that I cannot bring you an 'All Systems GO" message at this moment in time, but we will send out another message once we know more.
Stay well - stay home - stay kind
Marjorie
Secretary, Cygnet RC
