Annual Report 2022 & AGM
20th February 2023
The Cygnet 2022/23 Annual Report
This year's Annual General Meeting, which took place in the bar on Sunday 19th February, in many respects represented a Changing of the Guard – or at the very least, a shuffling of the pack.
Either way, the headlines are: that after 21 years in the Chair, Nick Wylie handed over the gavel to Charles Pretzlik; and after 14 years as Hon. Secretary, Marj Isräel handed over the minute book to Martin Drage. Thank you to both Charlie and Martin for stepping up to the plate. We also welcomed former captain Stuart Gibbons back onto the committee.
Thanks were enthusiastically recorded for both Nick and Marj's long and tireless contributions to the management of the club. Marjorie, as you know was presented with her little memento at the Centenary Ball back in September but a little memento was also presented to Nick on Sunday, who was, equally enthusiastically, elevated to President of Cygnet RC!
Naturally, the bell was rung.
Full details of new committee for 2023/24 can be found here. As you can see, there are still vacancies for the position of Social Secretary and Assistant Treasurer so please don't be shy, if you think you can help out let the chairman or captain know. We are also looking from someone to take over administration of the 300 Club from Tom, who currently has more than enough on his plate as Chairman of the Boathouse Exec. and could really use some help
And in a moment of wonderful serendipity, just as the gavel came down on the AGM, the children of former secretary, Ronnie Lambe, arrived on the hard to scatter his ashes in the stretch of river that had been such a part of his long life. Stephen, Philip and Rosemary had no idea that it was the AGM and despite having imagined a quieter event, it was touching that so many of Ronnie's fellow committee members could be present for his final journey down-stream. What–ho!
