    21st April 2020

    Dear Cygnets,

I hope everyone is doing well and keeping safe.

First of all Big Thank You to all during this time, from the people who are on the front line (claps, claps, claps) to the ones who are staying at home, trying to make the best of the situation. Let's embrace these next weeks with optimism fingers crossed we will be out for Summer.

Now that we have enjoyed the first weeks of the lockdown for free let's upgrade it to premium ;).

    "Lockdown Premium Package":

We have a revamped website  https://www.cygnet-rc.org.uk/ , have a look if you haven't already. Thank you very much Neil and Simon.

Boathouse safety has also been upgraded: The Bar exit door is repaired, bars for the windows will follow and CCTV is in operation and signs are all done. Big Thank you to the Exec Team and friends: Jamie, Ali, Ben, Tom, Chris J (sorry if I am forgetting someone.)

Training: (good time to improve core and flexibility)

Please find some homework attached, (you know you always can have the Callisthenic pyramid 😉 ). Please feel free to provide photographic evidence to motivate the rest of us. I will set a virtual squad meeting for next week Tuesday 7.00 pm.

    Thursday Social Zoom 8.30 pm:
Please let me know it you want to attend and I will forward the details.

    20th March 2020

    Dear Cygnets ,

I hope everyone is doing well.

First of all thank you all for your patience in this time. It has been a few months with fantastic good work unfortunately we need to stop all squad activities.

As you all are aware of the coronavirus (COVID-19) Situation and health and safety is first priority. The upcoming months are going to be challenging for all of us, I know it is going to be hard for some people but we shall have to adapt, we need the collaboration of all of you to flatten the curve so we can get back to normality as soon as possible.

The view of the club is that the sensible thing to do to mitigate all risk and to do our part in keeping our members and the community safe is by restricting access completely. That being said we understand we cannot force people to stay away. Please think carefully about what you are going to gain and if it is worth taking the risk.

Following discussions, please see below the agreed terms of use:

    • Boathouse will be close until further notice to avoid the spread of the COVID-19 Virus.
    • Individuals wanting to go out for outings in a single scull are advised to consider NOT using the boathouse facilities unless in an emergency.
    • Individuals' use of an ergo in the Shed will likewise be at a member's own risk. A shed key will be available in the outside key safe so you can access the Shed without entering the Boathouse.

This Week and going forward: Social isolation

We are working on a plan to keep us fit during the coming months (Callisthenic pyramid ;) and others). Let's support each track alternative exercise (maybe via Strava) to keep moral high and keep as fit as possible.

    More will follow.

Have a nice Friday and please keep safe.

    Cris

Good Training Session, this weekend despite the very cold weather. We had an 8+ on Saturday and a good session in the shed and 4+ on Sunday. Well done everyone who turned out, Megan, Sam for coxing and Beth for coaching. Keep Healthy. We still have Ebb Yellow (Orange) flag, (Check our Webpage). Please be careful out there take a look good out, don't underestimate the river and the weather conditions. If you are not sure (especially in small boats) if you should go out, probably you shouldn't.
