    31st July 2019

    Dear Cygnets,

I hope everyone is doing well.

We had a fantastic weekend at St Neots:

Saturday, we had a development 8+ and 4+ racing, unfortunately we found a more experienced opposition, and it was not to be. That didn't prevent us to go for a nice dinner to warm us up after a rainy day, followed by a few drinks and little bit of dancing in the disco tent.

Sunday, more rain We started promptly with a 4+ which lost in the last 15 strokes after leading - too many avocados and not so many ergs 😉. The development 8+ offered a good sprint but again it was not to be. The Master C 1x, if there was not enough water falling of the sky, on his way to the start went for a swim after his boat was rammed by a sculler from the Masters A/B heat. Once he made it back into the boat and bailed out some water, offered a good race, unfortunately 1L behind at the end.
But good news the same Masters A/B sculler lost in the final against Ross, for whom the wait under the rain was worth it
Yep, yep we have a pot to report (claps claps claps). Congratulations Ross for the first pot of the season. Also congratulations Chris J, for his first race ever (hopefully the first of many). Thank you all for the hard work: loading and de-loading the trailer; Rubina and Phil to come and cheer on Saturday; Anna for coxing; Tom for Driving the trailer. Hopefully everyone had fun. Next last two stops of this year are Peterborough and Oxford - please update your availability (https://www.fitclub.me) by Thursday noon, if you want to race.

    Safety:

NO Swimming in the Thames (gentle reminder)
Last week three bodies were missing in the Thames, one on the Kingston reach. In this hot weather the temptation to go for a cooling swim after an outing is very strong. The Thames is not as tranquil as it appears on the surface. So please no swimming in the Thames

Works at Fulham FC - IF you row to Putney please take extra care - http://www.cygnet-rc.org.uk/post-fulham_football_ground_works.html

Don't forget the new TIDEWAY CODE which PLA launched last month. Steerers, Coxes, please take a good look.

Thursday Social: Watch out Rupert's email
