Cygnet Weekly update
13th December 2016
Firstly congratulations to Tim for his win in British Rowing Indoor Champs on Saturday in the mens 40-49 light weight category in 6 mins 23 a full 16 seconds ahead of second place. So that sets the standard for the Cygnet 2k test on Saturday morning. Common, guys we like a challenge! Good to see that Cygnet traditions were upheld at the Barnes Bridge Ladies Christmas Ball on Saturday night and the club bar still in use at 3am. Thanks to Tim for giving us a lie in and recovery outing on Sunday.
So yes it's a 2k ergo test on Saturday, target is to improve by 2 secs on your previous time, maybe a quiet Friday night would be good preparation rather than another 3am in the bar.

Cygnet Weekly Update
22nd November 2016
It was an awesome weekend on the lumpy river with all our entrants for Scullers Head out training together accompanied by a fleet of small boats which gave good steering practice to Tom, Sam and Bjarne. First time in a pair for Scott. And Scott manned up to go out in a single for the race pace session with the other scullers in the second outing. It's been really excellent to get the scullers together as a pod, working off each other and getting Tim's feedback to improve our sculling. It certainly got the competitive juices flowing before the race. Bring it on.
So Scullers Head is this Saturday at 13:30, raced down river to Putney as usual. We have six entrants (seven if we can count Tim):
- 73 Bart (Mas B)
- 218 Tim (Mas B)
- 244 Guy (Mas C)
- 465 Jez (Mas E)
- 529 Robin (Mas Nov A)
- 532 BDF (Mas Nov B)
- 533 Cris (Mas Nov B)
Please come down and cheer and enjoy the spectacle. Matt is running the book on the Cygnet finish order...
Further ahead, Quintin Plum Puddings (a festive race like mini head race) is taking place on Sunday 18th December. This is a great opportunity for our novices to get their first race like experience without it being anything too serious. In previous years we've put together two mixed crews of experienced and novices rowers, which gives a bit of intra club spice so we plan to do the same this year. Can you sign up if you want to take part by putting "PP" on the availability sheet for the 18th Dec asap.
This Week:
Tuesday 7:15pm Circuits with Maxi at Cavendish School. We all loved the 200 lunges 200 burpees finisher last week, how can we top that this week?
Wednesday 7:00pm Club Run 5k easy
Thursday 7:00pm Squad Ergo 30 min rate 20 at 76% of 2k power (scullers head entrants only do 10 mins)
Saturday Main squad outing at club by 7:20 otw by 7:45
Novice outing at club by 9 otw by 9:15 - please update your availability asap only four of you have filled in the sheet to date.
Scullers Head racers decide for themselves their warm up routine,
Sunday Meet Main squad outing at club at 7:20am otw 7:45am
Finally another plea for people to check and fill in their availability at the latest by 8pm on Wednesday for the following weekend, it only takes a couple of minutes and it lets me plan the outings, crews, coxes, boats etc on Thursday morning.
Have a good week,
Jez
